The following experiment was compiled by a student in August 1999 to test which paper towels are the most absorbent and the best value for money.
I measured the amount of water absorbed by one segment of seven brands of paper towels.
Method:
1.
I took one segment of each paper towel sample
2.
I measured 100mls of water which weighed 100gms for testing each sample
3.
I placed the samples in the water for 2 minutes and then drained.
4.
I measured and weighed the water not absorbed by each sample and by deducting it from 100ml/gm I worked out how much each segment absorbed.
Conclusion:
1.
Because of different paper sizes and close results, using one segment isn't accurate. For the next test we will weigh larger paper samples.
2
.
The close measurements show that the scales and millilitre measure with 25 gram / 25 millilitre steps is too much. (Need very good scales 1g).
